No, I didn't take a wrong turn...

I didn't check results for winning time etc but it will all be on the Brighton Excelsior website soon.

Steyning 10 - 20 July

It was my first time on this course and it took me ages to find the car park!! By the time I did the registration car had moved to the start. Luckily they cater for people like me so I cycled up there and they had a few spare numbers - I got number 34 and was the last person off - good incentive to pedal. I had cleverly put my garmin on charge - and left it there so arrived with a HRM strap - helpful. no time, cadence or HR. Luckily bike helmet and shoes were in tow so no excuses. I did a 10-15 minute warm up (about half of what I did last week at Washington) as I didn't really know the time - doh!!

Everyone had told me that this was a much slower course and to expect anything up to a minute slower than Washington. Nige, Lizzy, what do you think?

I did 26.06 - not a 10 mile pb but has to be a Steyning PB as it is my first time on the course Laughing

Someone make me start these earlier next year!!

It's slower, but I can't quantify it with accuracy as I haven't done the Steyning course often enough to have sufficient data points. Nigel probably has.
Hoping to do the last Steyning one on the 3rd of August (if coach allows). I've done a low 24 on that course but that was when I was just sneaking under 24 at Washington.

For me I reckon about 30 secs slower than Washington.
Although this season I have a 22.17 ish on Washington and I don't think I have ever gone under 22 on Steyning

Does anyone know the rules for taking a friend who doesn't live in the area and isn't registered to a local club to the evening 10 time trials?

I may have misunderstood and it's too late now, but for future reference:
To a ride a CTT event (open, semi-open or club) you have to be a member of a club affiliated to CTT (any club, any district). Technically, to ride a club event you have to be a member of that club, although most allow 'guests' (who still must be members of an affiliated club).
If you do not want to join a club, you can affiliate to CTT HQ for a short period (year or two I think).
Lizzie's suggestion of tritalk is on the nail and would have been my suggestion too Laughing

Steyning - Tue 3 Aug

1. Sholto Haggart (Brighton Mitre) 21.40
....
Nigel Herron 22.48
Lizzie Brama 23.42
Anita Jones 25.47

Anita only 2 secs off her (Washington) PB but course bests all round.
First time under 24 and 23 on this course respectively for Lizzie and me

actually only 1 second off Washington PB .... but who's counting Wink

I think both Nige and I achieved our results thanks to the fact that Nige was positioned 1 minute behind be! When he hadn't caught me by the second roundabout I thought I better floor it (technical term) to see if I could get to the turn point before he caught me. I didn't quite make it but I think I made him sweat Laughing I won't even mention that Lizzy did her blistering time with a flat tyre!!! I had to give her a lift home it was so flat - how does she do it?!

What I meant was 2 secs off a new PB, so technically you are right, one sec would have equalled your Washington time.

I was just trying to get my heart rate up. Twisted Evil

I did wonder who it was that drove past me and gesturing in a friendly way for a change.

Don't think the tyre was quite so flat at that point yet, Anita. At least I didn't feel like riding on a sponge just yet.
