My main tasks are to look after the club email account, answer enquiries from the public and provide admin support to the Board. Keen runner since primary school days, but moved up several gears since joining Phoenix 3 years ago. Favourite races:half marathons and all the Sussex Grand Prix
As a regular attender and hopefully a familiar face at club training sessions (mainly track training at Withdean from 6.45 on Wednesdays and Clubruns from 6.30pm on Thursdays) I am a contact point for any questions or concerns about club events, upcoming races and training sessions, though for technical advice our coaches are your best bet!
I have been a member of Phoenix for nearly ten years, during which time I have built up from 10Ks and Parkrun in its early days to Marathon running (a Brighton brace and one London Marathon so far) as well as endurance off-road events such as the South Downs Way Relay. I also enjoy cross country and have dipped my toe into multisport with a couple of sprint triathlons and aquathlons. I like to fly the Phoenix flag abroad too, having raced in Germany, Portugal, Majorca and Lanzarote - keep the flame alight!
I coach athletes from 9 years-old all the way up to the seniors and vets. Mostly on Wednesday nights but have been seen out and about coaching on other days of the week too. When I'm not injured I enjoy training and racing anything from 5k to marathon. I also like riding my bike. Rule 5.
Responsible for the track and field U13 league events for all athletes in years 4-7.
Paula is enthusiastic and encouraging to the young athletes having two daughters who compete in the league. She regularly competes herself in many 5k and 10k events.
I joined Phoenix in 2003. I received great support and learned to love running and triathon and I aspire to keep going into old age just like so many of our stars. I also want to give something back and have recently qualified as a BTF coach level 1.
I am a BTF level 2 coach, so feel free to speak to me about all things multi-sport. I still participate in local triathlons and duathlons and have represented GB at age-group level in the past. I have been a member of Phoenix AC for over 16 years, helping form the mulit-sport side of the club and have previously served on the Management Board. You can usually find me at the track on Wednesday trying to hone my newly re-invigorated track-racing skills but I'm equally at home on the road for 10k or 1/2 marathons, at parkruns or on the country in winter.
BAF and UKA Level 3 coach for over 10 years. Currently coaching U13 middle distance and U15 groups, focussing on speed work, maintenance of constant pace, and endurance up to 1500m.
Phoenix member for over 25 years and Club Chairman from 1992-1997. Personal favourite races:London and Seven Sisters marathons 1988-1991. Retired Automation Controls Engineer.
